Enterprize Business Plan Competition: The $1000 Pitch Competition

This year to encourage interest and emphasize the realistic approach to entrepreneurial financing, BDC and Faskens will be awarding a $1000 dollar prize to the top selected executive summary. This will be based on the criteria listed in the information sheet. Enter it now. Winners of the pitch competition are not obligated to attend the conference. Winning the Pitch Competition does not guarantee a placing in the Final 8.

Key Dates

14 November 2005 Executive Summaries due.
01 December 2005 Teams selected to work on full Business Plan notified.
02 January 2006 Business Plans due, team membership must be finalized.
25 January 2006 Finalist 8 Teams selected to start work on presentations notified.
23 February 2006 Semi-Final Competition takes place in Vancouver, BC.
25 February 2006 Final Competition takes place in Vancouver, BC.

Process

Teams must submit their Executive Summary by Nov 14, 2005. The winner of the Executive Summary Pitch Competition and teams selected to submit a full business plan will be notified on Dec 01, 2005. Teams required to submit their business plans have to do do before January 2nd, 2005.

Eight teams will be chosen to present at the semi-final round of the Enterprize Conference on February 23rd, 2006. Before the Conference, finalist teams can attend a workshop at their local BDC office on "How to Present to a Potential Investor".

The Final 8 Teams will present to two panels of judges on Feb 23, 2005. Student delegates (non-commpetitors) arrive on Feb 24, 2005. The Final 4 teams chosen will present to the audience of judges and student delegates on Feb 25, 2005 and have the chance at winning the first, second and third prize.

Energy Aware - 2005 Winners

Soon after Enterprize 2005, team Energy Aware became incorporated and continued to move forward with their idea. They are currently refining their third business plan after competing at the Telus New Ventures competition and completing their prototype. This team also won Energy Ambassadors, which is a federal competition hosted by Natural Resources Canada for undergraduate students. Now an official Energy Ambassador of Canada, the team is working on competing at an industry competition, New Ventures BC.
